Hi, my husband and I are planning to move from London to USA California next year. I am registered nurse completing my MSc which will be finished this year. I hope to pass the California state nursing exam and secure a nursing post. My husband plans to start a small business. We have been to the USA many times and want to make it our home - we love the spectacular scenary, out door life, friendliness, weather and many other aspects of life in the USA. We plan to visit San Diego later this year and would love to hear from anyone who can advise us on places to visit to get a full over view of life in San Diego and more importantly what communities/places we should visit as a possible future home. We are in our forties, enjoy outdoor life, yoga, culture, art, music - my husband plays classical guitar (beautifully), and we just try out best to enjoy living in the moment.....We want to live in a friendly community with a sense of belonging and after much researching and advice from friends who have been to San Diego - we want to come and visit and discover your beautiful city that may be our future home. Any advice is very welcome - Love Sandy

Wow, the UK must be emptying out because this is the third thread on this topic in recent days.

Before I give some advice I'll need to ask a few questions, what is your budget, do you two have kids, do you prefer to live in the center of a city or in the suburbs, how important is access to mass transit to you, what sort of business will your husband be starting (I ask because he might want to live closer to the business and thus avoid commuting)? As a trained nurse you shouldn't have to much trouble getting a job even in the current employment environment as there is a shortage of trained nurses though depending on what business your husband is thinking about starting (and specifically where he plans to start it) this might or might not be a good time to start a business. The economy is just starting to recover from a major recession after all.

Haha, the UK is emptying out! Good luck Sandie! If you ever get bored of the lovely Mexican food SD has to offer, let me know and I'll arrange a fry up/sunday roast.
