I know people who live in El Cajon and they absolutely hate it! They think themselves that it's super trashy. Fletcher Hills, Rancho San Diego and Granite Hills are all nice but most of El Cajon sucks.

It's not one of the worst areas of El Cajon. I think you'll be alright there. Go for it.

There are a lot of places in San Diego that are the anus besides El Cajon.

Let's take Lemon Grove, for example. They don't call it Lemon Grave for nothing.

Let's look at 54th and University, where my uncle bought a beautiful little middle class home afer WWII and raised a family there until moving to Lake Murray (San Carlos) about 15 years later and finished raising the family. That was a beautiful neighborhood that is now a major crime-infested ghetto you don't even want to drive through.

To me those are a LOT worse than El Cajon. There are other places (mostly south and east of downtown) that are anus, but those are two good examples.

El Cajon is massive. I dont know where the OP apartments are, but to generalize specific areas in a densely populated city like EC is a waste.

I live in in Lemon Grove and never heard of it called "Lemon Grave". While I can see it being anus in some parts (mainly anywhere along Broadway) my residential area is actually pretty nice as well as the surrounding area.
Nice for me means= no bars on windows, neighbors are friendly and I never feel threatened.

I also had no idea that San Carlos was a "major" crime infested ghetto? Your definition of ghetto seems somewhat far fetched. I am doubtful your exposure to a real ghetto was no more than a freeway driveby at 70+ mph or watching a movie.

I am a San Diego native and have never heard it be called "Lemon Grave".

San Carlos is NOT ghetto. That is the funniest thing I've read in a while

I don't think you were reading the statement correctly. I think the poster meant that 54th and University is now ghetto, which is true IMHO.

Wait just a MINUTE. Read my post again.

I never said San Carlos was ghetto! I said MY UNCLE MOVED FROM 54th & UNIVERSITY TO San Carlos where he continued raising his family.

I believe I made it very clear that 54th and University is uber ghetto now (it WASN'T in the 50's and 60's).

I NEVER said or implied that San Carlos is ghetto. San Carlos is FAR from ghetto

When I said "those" I meant Lemon Grove and 54th/University - NOT San Carlos. I could have written it more clearly but really if you read the entire post it shouldn't be that difficult to figure out.
