Default Moving out of SD; where would you consider?

Tampa, Bmore, Chicago...just a few of my thoughts..but extreme weather is scary after becoming so soft from living here. Looking for a mix as everyone is...but have you considered/moved outside the obvious (Denver and Seattle)? Where else?

I would skip Florida. It's hot, humid and sticky and it's where America retires.

What about Atlanta? Yes, it's hot and humid, but you are close to mountains, the beach, tons to do...

Seattle and Denver are both pretty attractive for a variety of reasons.

If money wasn't such a huge factor I would definitely consider NY or DC. Boston too. I could see myself living in New Hampshire or Vermont as well.
I'm familiar with northeast, so I know what I'm getting into. My concerns are more cultural than anything, weather is less extreme on the coasts than many continental areas.

I'd consider Oregon. I also wouldn't mind Santa Cruz or Mendocino. The one commonality that both S.C. and Mendo have is that the air is really "fresh" there.
Plus, I love the cool, but not too cold, weather that you get in those areas.

Raleigh or Charlotte NC, Virginia Beach VA. All are close to the Beach and Mountains are within a days drive. Fairly moderate temperates with only rare extremes.

If we were to move out of San Diego, I'd consider the Oregon coast, Colorado, maybe New Mexico. I understand no place is going to be like home (weather, beaches, family, etc.) but if we had to move, which we don't plan to, that's where we'd go.

I've been trying for the longest time for NYC. Been doing a lot of research and such and eventually be there. I love the vibe over there as oppose to here.

It's so hard to decide isn't it? We made the decision to leave SD back in 2001 and I wasn't sure where to start looking. I wanted a huge change, but didn't want harsh weather like snow and freezing winters, I wanted 4 seasons that were tolerable lol AND I wanted away from the west coast or even the west in general. With our first move, we ended up outside of Springfield, MO and loved it. I centered on Missouri since my husband has some family there and everything I was hearing about it was what I was looking for. We loved it there and then my husband was offered a job in Georgia, outside of Atlanta and we packed up and moved. We liked it there too but I didn't see it as a place I wanted to stay forever. It was crowded (a reason that I really wanted out of SD) and just kept growing. Crime is bad and creeps out further into the Atl sprawl....my husband was offered a job up here in Va, outside of Roanoke and we love it here as well...we live in a small town, crime is hardly an issue, everyone is so nice and it's beautiful....I have great things to say about all 3 places we've been and would do it all again in a heartbeat! We've seen so much!

Good luck on your decision!
