I speed a lot. I drive 80 on the freeway. But when I get caught speeding, I don't pass it off as "no big deal" or run to a message board and start complaining about how the police have better things to do or how everyone else speeds or blah blah blah. Like others have said, you gambled, you got caught, so it's time to pay up. It's pretty simple, really. All these people giving half-baked legal advice on how to avoid paying the penalty for breaking the law should be ashamed of themselves. I'm not goose-stepping government cronie, but when you get caught breaking the law, I have no sympathy for you.
Mrmanz seems to think a different set of rules should apply to him. If he continues to speed as he says he will, he will find out that is not the case.

80 in my eyes when no one is around isn't a huge deal, most of the time traffic is at 70-75, but non the less it is breaking the law. Having a sports car on top of being 24 and male (i'm presuming) is already being dangerous in the fact that insurance will rape you anyhow, regardless of any traffic violation. If it were me, and I chose this car to drive, i'd be damn sure to be abiding by the law pretty much all the time so that I wouldn't be spending $3,000+ a year in insurance for speeding. Imagine the cost of insurance if you were traveling that fast and creating an accident, injuring someone else or causing death. That is why insurance is so costly, because they would need to cover your butt for driving that way. My suggestion would be to try to do traffic school, pay the fine and tone it down if you choose to continue to drive this car, it will only continue to cost you a lot in the long run.

luckily you didn't kill someone, but more than that: you broke the law. Like many of us have said, we speed, we get caught, we pay the damn ticket cause we were in the wrong. Plus you said, the ticket was for going 83, not 80. I don't think that makes much difference, it might to the judge though..

You come off as a little brat. Your 24, act like an adult. I freely admit I speed. When I get caught I take responsbility (like an adult should) and take my lumps. I agree going 80 in a 65 is not that drastic. All some of us are saying is be an adult and accept the consequences of your actions. Your excuses are pathetic. I hope you fight it and loose you big cry baby.

lol.. my problem here is everyone saying you broke the law, you broke the law..

in the same logic, EVERYTIME YOU GO 1mph over you are breaking the law

so congratulations, everyone of you that drove today BROKE THE LAW.. haha

so we are all in the same boat.. dont make me out to be a villain

you all did what i was pulled over for doing, you broke the law and went 1 mile over the limit....

im not making excuses, im just saying in my home state, you can go 80 all year long on the turnpike in a 65 and not get pulled over, because NJ cops know 80 is the flow of traffic there, and its not a big deal, hence the reason why im wondering why i got pulled over in cali

Like i said, i got my first car at 17, for the past 6-7years ive been driving in NJ, i set cruise at 80 on long drives on turnpike.. i pass cops, they dont chase me and pull me over, most cops(i have friends who know cops), set their radar on the turnpike in NJ to 85, so if you are under 85 you are good..

in Cali it seems like they set em to 75.lol

Anyway lets drop this, anyone saying that by going 80 at 11pm im endangering someone's life should go and burn their license..

p/s im not a brat, i just think its funny how you guys are all like OMG 80 on a MAJOR HIGHWAY is a big deal. hahah

go tell that to NJ residents and see what they say to you.. anyway im going to do trial by mail like i said, lets drop this.. bottom line is you all like you are obidient citizens, so next time you do 26 in a 25, remember you just broke the law, so pull yourself over and write yourself a ticket

If you read my posts I admit that I sometimes speed. I don't care that you do either. Just take responsibility for getting caught. Your not in NJ anymore, but I hope you go back soon.

And because he doesn't get it, he shouldn't be driving that kind of car anyway. He should talk to the kids that got injured in their speeding (racing) accident on the 4th. The one driver got his legs amputated.
