are the wind speeds, on average, still as low as theyre shown to be on the primary SD page here on city-data? mid to low single digits.. sounds awesome to someone like me whos primary transportation is a motorcycle.

or are some areas windy, other places never windy at all, etc?

im in buffalo NY, with plans to move to SD. right this very second, weather.com is reporting SD's wind as 9mph. no big deal i guess. buffalo's wind is showing as 18mph gusting to 26mph and from riding home in that nonsense today, i know at times its getting significantly higher in the southern parts of the metro area.

eff this. sportbikes only weigh around 400 pounds.

is san diego even a small improvement? whats it actually like there, on a regular basis?

It's never really windy here unless there is a santa anna wind which is fairly rare.

I see plenty of stunt bikers on rice burners on the freeways if that's any indicator. When you start getting into the higher elevations inland during a Santa Ana, yeah they can get over 60mph easily and churn up a dust storm.

I don't think it's windy at all. You be hard pressed to get an umbrella to invert (the kind without the "release flap").

Every October. Gets my nerves started when I smell smoke during Santa Anas

The Santa Anas only really affect the inland areas though. I'm 8 miles from the beach and almost never get any Santa Anas worth mentioning. And they only happen on occasion during a short time of the year. Generally, it's almost completely calm almost all the time. I remember one bad rainstorm last winter that was windy, and that's it. It is literally an almost windless city. A pleasant light breeze, yes, but not windy.

hell this sounds awesome. just what i need. everything im into, outdoor activities and whatnot, are negatively affected by the wind.

so winds over 10-15mph are the exception and not the rule? ppl seem hard pressed to even show examples of seasonal winds other than the santa anas..

Yeah, probably tells you something. If you are looking for more solid numbers, try an almanac or some kind of chart that anyone that needs to chart wind would need....like an aviation website for San Diego.
