My husband might be getting a job in El Cojan. We are looking for an upscale family oriented community/town that is great to raise kids (ours are 4 and 6 years old). We would like to spend $750,000 for a home. We actually like the "cookie cutter" homes in neighborhoods where there are a lot of swing sets and kids playing balls on the lawn. We are also jewish too and would like to have some jewish people in our area too, although we love diversity. Can anyone recommend so neighborhoods/towns that would be no more than a 30 min commute for him too. From what I read I like Stonebridge in Scripps Ranch and Poway but don't know if they are too far.
Thanks

You might want to check out the neighborhood of Del Cerro:
Del Cerro (Spanish for "of the hill") and colloquially known as "hanukkah hill" for its large jewish population, is a wealthy neighborhood in the eastern part of San Diego. It includes a few sub-communities such as the wealthy Del Cerro Heights, Princess Del Cerro and Old Del Cerro. It neighbors the communities of San Carlos, Allied Gardens, College Area, Grantville Lake Murray and the city of La Mesa. Over recent years the community has come to odds with the expansion of San Diego State University which is looking towards the affluent community for expansion.

Grantville and Allied Gardens are pretty nice, but i think Scripps Ranch fits your preferences more than any other community within 30 mins of El Cajon.

I would say parts of Poway,Tierrasanta, and Mira Mesa.Only thing is with traffic it may be more than 30mins

Same with Eastside CV developments. They may like the lifestyle of Santee. There are some pretty nice areas with pretty nice homes up there and that's hardly a commute.

Definitely check out Del Cerro. There are lots of Jewish families here, a great temple with one of the top preschools in the area (temple emanu-el), great schools (Hearst is one of the best elementary schools in SD), and, is very close to El Cajon. We also have a new park in the area (princess del cerro park) and are close to Lake Murray. The houses range from 500k to 1+million (depending on where you are on the hill). Let me know if you have any questions. We've been here for 2 years and couldn't be happier.

Del Cerro here, too! Extremely recommended. But with $750,000, I would be ready to live even coser to San Diego City.

Rancho San Diego should work well, but check school ratings and boundaries before you buy (you want to stay away from Monte Vista High and ECV High, among other things). Maybe even Alpine. In El Cajon area, look east of Avocado and south of Chase. The very fact that you work in El Cajon is a big advantage on your part, because 4 out of 5 people in the market for houses in that price range work either downtown or near the 5/805 merge, and that creates opportunities in the boonies like RSD.

Del Cerro is overpriced. Stonebridge is overpriced and too far. Poway is nice but also too far.

Eastlake is a bit further, but it is an area that I'd strongly consider if I wanted to see cookie-cutter houses and lots of kids. Not sure about jewish presence there.

Thank you. The most important thing to us is that our kids are in a great school system and in a safe and nice neighborhood. I don't know the san diego area at all since i am coming from nj so this is helpful.
