LMAO. I am moving from Los Angeles to San Diego next week. I had my heart set on Austin, but never managed to get a job over there. Been there 3x and my time in Austin has come to an end sadly.

I am pretty happy though with making the move to San Diego. As much as I like Austin, the weather and I didn't mix. I would have been able to save a lot of money there, but ended up with getting a job (somehow!) in San Diego.

Where exactly did You live on Austin? I lived in Cedar Park for two years before moving to Hawaii and now preparing for our move to San Diego.

Ha! I've been trying to move there, but my plans keep getting delayed due to financial concerns. I'm self-employed, so job-wise I'm taken care of, but I'm still trying to earn the money to get out there.

I used to live there several years ago, though, so really no questions, other than is it really as litter-infested as the Austin City-Data thread makes it seem?

Well, I guess I do have one question--is it any bike-friendlier than it was in 1994? I know the pedestrian/bike bridge is open (HALLE-FREAKIN'-LUJAH, Lamar was awful to walk along), and a bike organization there has a helpful map of calmer side streets. But I still have memories of people being annoyed I actually tried to ride a bike. Heck, one guy at HEB panicked when he found out I was carrying 10 pounds of groceries home for two blocks--by walking. Horrors!!

Oh, and may I say the current brouhaha about Californians moving out there is hilarious? I saved an article from the Statesman about all the Californians moving out in 1994. 'Taint nothing new.

I heard they're building an F1 track in Austin so that's a plus for racing fanatics. I'd be thrilled if I was living in Austin.
