I'm going to be moving from Chicago to San Diego. I will be working at the FAA facility at Miramar. I'm wondering where is a nice, safe, reasonably priced area within a short (25-30 minute max) drive to Miramar? I'll be moving with just my fiance, but schools may be of importance in the near future. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated!

Default Budget

I'll first be getting a six month lease in Escondido to get settled, but then I'll be looking to buy in the 200-250K range. Thanks

The good news in WGN news from Chicago comes on I swear in every state

With a 200-250k bidget you could get a decent house in Tememcula although the commute would be long. Unless your looking for small condo? www.ziprealty.com is a nice real estate webstie to get a feel for the cites you can afford to buy in. Best of luck!

Temecula's well beyond the 20 mile radius you're seeking. There are plenty of nice rentals in the UTC area, which is only about 2 or 3 miles from Miramar. It's also only about 5 miles from the coast. As for moving from Chicago, you might want to check out www.bigbox.com - they offer storage units that also can be shipped between cities (i.e. Chicago to San Diego).
