Be prepared for the shock of your life. The San Diego area is pretty and the weather is hard to beat but there are some realities that aren't so pretty here. It is very overcrowded and housing is sky high expensive. The freeways are overcrowded and can be very dangerous at times. If you get hit don't expect the other guy to stick around and take responsibility, they usually run. On the upside the job market is healthy and if you're looking for work it shouldn't be that tough to find a job.

Crime is a lot more common here and people almost have the attitude that "it happens and that's just how it is". If you want to buy a house you will need a six figure income. Having lived in Elyria Ohio and owned a house that cost under 100K I can tell you that the housing is ridiculously overpriced and out of reach for many people. Life is very fast paced and too many people tend to be narcissistic.

My impression is that this area is all about money, money, money. You will notice that people don't have the same values as Mid-Westerners. I have met some good people here without doubt. It is nice not having to struggle through Northern Ohio's bitter winters but everything has a price in life.

I hope this provides some help. If you do move here there are many of us here already. You can't swing a cat without hitting an Ohioan here. I am trying to keep it real so that you are better informed about the changes you are contemplating. Good luck!

I'm from Ohio(Go Browns) too. Been here 15 years. San Diego is very nice. It was easier to move here 15 years ago. That was before the housing prices went nuts. If you are single and no kids. I would say give SD. a try. If you have a family. I would say best to stay in Ohio. It's too hard to raise a family here. Good luck.
