Confusing post due to fact I actually first posted it on wrong board and didn't know they would move it. So here is what the original post would have said:

Are obese people few and far between in S.D.? Are they respected when they go to stores, the beach, or out to eat? Do they have oversized chairs in movie theaters, restaurants, and such?

I'd say yes though obesity rates are much lower here then in other parts of the country. The weather is good year round so it helps that people go out doors at all times of the year. Of course, the deep south also has decent weather but they also have the highest obesity rates so culture (mostly what we eat and what we do in our spare time) also is a major factor.

San Diego is usually number one or two most fit cities in the nation. Usually fighting it out with San Francisco.

To answer your question, no one here is going to make fun of you for your weight or anything else for that matter.

Well, due to the weather, people tend to wear much less. That creates a body culture and you better lose a few pounds before you walk in panties. I don't like them. It takes them forever to enter the bus and then they hyperventilate loudly for 10 minutes. On top of that, they are a burden to our health care system by being sicker than the average healthy person. Did I mention that they harm themselves, too?

I'm not talking about the ones with 10 lbs more than the average. I'm talking about the ones that weigh twice as much as the average and then have the guts to brag about their favorite subway in the library. What the hell?? I know that you are obese, but that isn't an invitation to act unsocial.

Actually, San Diego is never rated in the fittest city category. Last year, they made it to the fattest. I guess I'm looking at much different things, but we were shocked at the obesity rate when we moved here. I was expecting a ton of fit/trim people since you can run, bike, walk, surf pretty much all year round but it's not the case.

I take that list with a grain of salt. Most people I see day to day here are skinny, trim, to a little chubby.

I guess it depends on where you hang out. I see lots of severely over-weight people unloading out at the casinos and a bunch at the all you can eat mall stops but I don't see anyone huge at the beach usually.

There is respect and then there is going overboard. If you need two seats to fly then you should be buying both, otherwise, the rest of us schlubs are subsidizing your seat and that is just plain wrong.

WOW, that sounds like my life. I went from skinny to trim to a little chubby. I think I'll begin some reverse action now!

San Diego is a huge city and we have all kinds here. Come to Encinitas on a weekend and you'll see hundreds of people walking, running, surfing, biking, etc. along the Coast Highway. Go to a Swap Meet in the East County and you'll see ... well, you know.
