I live in Oceanside - 5 miles inland off of the 76. There were just a few days that were cloudy over the last two weeks. Otherwise it is the best of both worlds. Have been here for 7 yrs and it is almost always gorgeous in my yard! Clear skies and cool ocean breezes. When I head to the beach however I see the marine layer you are talking about. Am heading out of state for work soon - if my house sells. I will miss this perfect weather!

Grisandole, I hope this doesn't sound harsh, but I really don't have any sympathy for you...we moved to FL in January, and I miss San Diego tremendously at times. It's like 98 degrees here today in Jax and with the humidity, you don't want to be outside any longer than you have to...just drive on down to La Jolla, PB, Coronado...or up to San Juan Capistrano, etc. if you'd like to see the sun...I can understand your need for sun...I'm the same way. I just wish I was still on the west coast, too.
Enjoy CA for me! |

I like heat but not humidity, so I don't envy you. I'm used to the dry heat of the SF Valley/Inland Empire. I also liked the heat of the Central Valley. I honestly feel stupid for not researching this further before choosing to live west of the 5....it's my own fault. I knew it would be overcast in May/June, but it's almost Aug and rarely any sun or heat. I would have been better off moving to one of the cookie cutter subdivisions inland. Hey, at least we're renting so I can move in ten months ![]() |

Last night all the way into this morning, it was raining here on the LA coast b/c the marine layer got so thick.
Southern California is wierd b/c usually the higher elevation you go, the colder it gets, but here, it gets hotter when you go up (of course not when you go over a mile up, maybe 1,000 feet) |
