Default Camp Pendleton area

I actually just somehow stumbled onto this forum while looking for an apartment. I'm currently in the USMC stationed at Pendleton, and when I return from Iraq sometime in the next few months will be finally moving out of the barracks and into an apartment with my wife. Now being a ridiculously underpaid Marine, I have been trying to find a place in either Fallbrook or the Oceanside/Vista area. My wife found a complex in Vista, Waterleaf managed by Fairfield Properties LP, that seems to meet our needs. Does anyone here have any experience with either of these? It's located off of the 78, and although I know the general location and that traffic to and from base will be a pain every day, can anyone tell me if that area in particular is a nice one to live? With my wife working, going to school, packing all of our stuff, and worrying about me, and me being over here this has been a very arduous process and I thank you for any information/feedback you can give me. Thanks to all in advance.
