Default Need help with places!

My husband and I are coming to San Diego in October and will be there a week. I need some help with restaurants and sights to see. We used to live in So. Cal. (Redlands) eons ago but this will be like seeing it for the first time. I can find lists of attractions but am looking for some personal insights as to whether they are worth investing the time and money to visit. We aren't really beach people although it looks like Torrey Pines would be worth a look-see. Anybody have any ideas for us?

Balboa Park, most def.

If you're in to driving and looking at awesome neighborhoods (maybe I'm wierd for liking this, but hey, it's a forum about cities and demographics, right?) I always love to drive through Mission Hills and Kensington. Banker's Hill's pretty awesome too. Lots are bugged by the airport traffic if Lindbergh field's landing on runway 27 (like 99 percent of the time), but as an aviation enthusiast, it's paradise!

The Midway Museum, if you have never been on an aircraft carrier, this is a good chance to.
