As a green card holder from Germany, I would like to move to California (preferably San Siego, but Los Angeles or San Jose would be an option too). My only concern is to find a job in this region.

I worked as a Windows Systems Administrator (including VMware/Citrix) the last eight years. At the well known job search engines there are some interesting opportunities available...

Do you think that it is possible within 2-3 months to find a job in the IT? How is the job situation in San Diego in general? Are there "better" locations to find a job in the IT?

Thank you.

There are many IT positions available for the Navy. So if you have military experience, I'd look into the Navy IT. Also, check with Sorrento Valley which is sort of a mini Sillicon Valley.

People will say the job market sucks, yadda yadda yadda, but if you have the experience, credentials, and determination, you should have no problem or very little problem.

I don't think they're going to give a German guy with a Green Card a high security job with the Navy.

Foreign-born green card holder, no chance at a clearance job, military job. That's just misinformation. Sorrento Valley as a "Mini-Silicon Valley" is utterly laughable. San Diego's tech scene is more akin to Salt Lake City's.

Anyway - If your skills are sharp, you'll find something. If not, you won't. It's a small employer pool but also a small talent pool, so there's almost always a job for someone with great tech and communication skills.

I didn't pay attention that the OP was from Germany

also, I said it was a mini Silicon Valley because it's the most important income hub to the San Diego area after the military like Silicon Valley is to San Jose.
