Well, now there is another reason to dine out in some of the upscale restaurants in Tijuana. Yesterday the California state wide ban on foie gras took effect so now it will be off the menu north of the border. This is really sad as foie gras is a really versatile ingredient and I don't know anything else which tastes even remotely like it. This new rule will shut down a lot of family farms in this state as foie gras was kind of a refuge from the big agricorps for some families; its labor intensive as everything still has to be done by hand so the corporations avoided it and that left an opening for small family operations. I really hope we stop regulating industries out of existence and start actually trying to create jobs instead.

They are getting around the ban by offering it for free and charging for water.

Still gotta take 'em out to do something. Besides, I never wanted to screw up a friendship by injecting a little hoo hah into it. That messes it up real quick.

Whatever, pervos.

Back on topic: I spent yesterday in Tijuana eating, shopping, and sipping and got home just fine, if a little sadder even than last time that several more of my favorite shops/galleries have closed due to lack of tourism.
