Hi All,

Looking for some good advice, have already sifted through good information on this forum. I'll try to keep this short

Born in Canada to American mother so I have US citizenship, full birth certificate and SSN. Brother works in US with no problems.

My girlfriend is Canadian born with Canadian citizenship. I know she can apply for a TN, but is there any other way as I am a US citizen?

Basically looking for change. I'm a biologist with a degree and girlfriend is an analytical chemist. Vancouver is off the charts for cost of living! I hear people complain about SD, but when the average home is near 1 million for a dump, it's time to leave!! My condo is worth 320k and gf's worth 220k, we can easily afford a 350-400k townhome/house.

Would it be difficult to find a job given my profession (toxicology)? Any way to avoid the TN visa? Recommended communities near San Diego metro?

Thanks!!

Either get married or she will need to have an employer sponsor her for an H1-B visa, which is entirely possible (if not likely?) given her field of expertise. But that route will be a giant pain in the arse, expensive, and is anything but guaranteed, and that speaks for every step of the entire process. If you want a guarantee, either you two need to marry or she needs a TN which brings its own set of issues (obviously).
