Hey all,

Just moved out here, and I bought a used pickup from a dealer. The sticker on the plate says it expires in March 2010, I got the letter in the mail from the state saying I need to renew for my 2012 stickers.

I'm sure I paid for the 2011 registration, but I didn't get the red sticker in the mail, and I didn't get it from the dealer.

I have the little piece of paper taped to the inside of my windshield but I'm worried I'm going to get pulled over and/or a ticket for not having the correct stickers on there?

Anyone know about this?

Check your paperwork to see if you actually paid for them. If not, take everything to DMV. But since you bought a vehicle from a dealer, you should have paid for the new registration then, but the stickers come from DMV, not the dealer.

Go to the DMV. It's possible your registration is current on the books but you can get a ticket for not displaying current tags (usually by parking enforcement). The white paper in your window is the dealer's application for your registration and the change to your name. It is generally accepted by an officer for 90 days. If you got the renewal notice it's most likely the paperwork went through especially if they are not asking for last year's fee and a late charge. Easiest fix, pay renewal now and get 2012 sticker.

Also bought a used vehicle from a dealer. How long should I wait for my stickers to come? Also I only have one plate and recently got pulled over for it. How can I get new plates. Do I have to wait till I get the registration on to get new ones?
