Anyone else read this from the UT about 2010 crime stats?

How do you feel about it being "safer" within the SD city limits?

San Diego's crime rate at lowest level since 1963 - SignOnSanDiego.com

Like I always said: Stats are only as good as what is reported....

It's been low the past several years. There aren't really any areas outside of a few in the city or county that I wouldn't feel safe walking through day or night. The whole county is pretty safe outside a few small spots.

San Diego and the West coast IN GENERAL are pretty safe places to live. People who live on the West Coast and do little reading think of high crime without a national perspective.

Some of the areas in the east and southeast have crime levels on par with 3rd world countries. Also, if you want to see REAL ghettos go to a place like Newark, Detroit, South Chicago, Philadelphia...etc, etc, or just travel there on Google Earth.

Oakland, San Bernardino, Compton, Richmond, have very high crime rates, so don't let the "beauty" fool you, they're up there next to those areas you mentioned, also West Chicago is as dangerous as South Chicago, and you can include St. Louis, New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington DC, Cleveland, and many many others but still, none come close to the most dangerous cities in the world. Not even close.

That is why I said IN GENERAL, I guess my capitalization of those words did little good. And if you compare the BAD areas of the west coast to the BAD areas of the east and southeast....for the most part the areas in the west are a lot safer.

Yeah i missed that my bad, I wouldn't say a lot safer by the way, and you did compare those BAD areas of the East and Southeast to 3rd world countries, not eve close compared to the Bad areas in the those countries.

But it is a good thing that the rate is on a downward slide or is it more fun to talk up the negative
Shmoove, if the numbers are accurate, then it probably confirms the belief that lower crime may be connected to improving economy.
