Hi,

I am looking to move from Charlotte, NC to San Diego hopefully by this year or early next year. I will vist in April and hope to find a job of course before I move. My questions are for locals San Diego:

How is the job makert for someone with healthcare and admin experience?

Would San Diego but good for someone trying to make a career change from healthcare and admin into web design or graphic design?

what is a good suburd outside of san diego where the cost of living is not to high?

How is the crime rate in certain areas?

How are the people?

The way of life?

Would a 30 something single with no childs enjoy living in san diego?

My reasons for moving out of Charlotte is there is just not much growth here. I am originally from the Bronx NY and miss having a lot to do including having more jobs to apply for. This is my opinion only.

I'm a native New Yorker who works for a Charlotte-based company, thinking of a San Diego move myself (I lived there for a few years in the early 90s).

I can't answer many of your questions, but I will say that SD is a great place for active, social singles. Compared to Charlotte (which I find unbearable from May-September and then some) the climate is 10,000 times better.

You will also find SD very informal, and very secular, compared to Charlotte and its environs. When you move in, people aren't going to ask, "Have you found a church yet?"

As for growth, it's kind of startling to hear you say that, as it seems most of the Northeast has been moving to NC over the last decade precisely because it has been a hot area for growth. I know that the building sprawl has come to a screeching halt there very recently, and that the economy has slowed down with the bank problems, but I'm going to guess that there is still a more active job market, and more buying power for your average salary, there than in SD.
