Default Job Interview

Hey

So I live in Canada and applied for a marketing firm in San Diego called Image Inc and they called me back and want me to come down for an interview!
I fly down with my dad on March-18
Im quite excited and nervous!

just thought I'd share
I researched the company and they seem legit so heres hoping for the best!

Any advice for me or tips?

Thanks

Amber

Hi Amber,

Check this website out - iMAGE Inc. Events Marketing Assistant Job - Real or not? | San Diego | Yelp

I would advise you to proceed with caution. Good luck.

Oh, please be careful... a quick Google search showed me that it looks like one of scammy "marketing" companies that force you to cold call/visit local companies to sell crap to them, while hardly paying you anything or having you be solely commission-based.

Are they paying for you to come down and interview? Or are you paying out of pocket for it? The reason I ask is that it seems very odd that a company would consider a candidate from Canada when there's probably tons of local people with marketing experience, UNLESS they just accept anyone (which is what a lot of these scam companies do).

Just proceed with caution... and if I were you, I wouldn't spend a dime of your own money flying down for this.

I agree with the others. Be really careful. Did you ask them any details of the job and what it entails? Just a quick Google search shows that you probably need to do a bit of due diligence.

I browsed the webpage and am skeptical. Yes its nice with the music and flash presentation, but it's odd when the main page is about getting you to join 'their team' as in, work for them.
I dont know of any legit companies that start with a "we're hiring" type of webpage like that.

Another thing I noticed is in the "Clients" section, there are zero clients listed. The only thing is says is we do "in store marketing promos" and that they have a portfolio of Fortune 500 companies. There is a chance that they cant list the companies, but I find that that it all a bit dodgy.
Their "Services" section doesnt say anything about any service except they are looking for candidates that will be great for their "services?? Makes no sense, again not specific about anything they do.

Its great to be excited about a new job prospect but be aware about what they are really offering and dont make any rash decisions.

Good luck

I also want to add that a true top-notch marketing firm would have an extensive portfolio of their clients to showcase--not just a cheesy generic-looking Flash site with music.

It's a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They want you to sell stuff to them just like the Cutco knife's and kirby vacuum cleaners.

Unless you really want to sell cheap stuff at a totally high rate, I'd say stay away from them...I went to their interview and left after I found out that all they want you to do is sell things to your family...
IMageinc...
Save your self the time, and start looking else where like me

If there was a giant Red Flad emoticon on here, I'd be raising it and waiving it around. Instead, I'll just do this and say be very careful because where there's smoke there's fire. How sad that companies like this are luring hard-working young people from as far away as Canada to do this sort of "work." Sign o' the times, I suppose.
