El Cajon Gang Activity-ESB
Hi, I just moved into an apartment down in El Cajon off the 67 and Bradley. When I looked at the place there wasn't much graffiti at all. Now once I moved in I see ECB and 532 tagged up at both enterances to my complex and smaller throw ups on street poles and what not. Everything else has been crossed out. I am just wondering if anybody knows about this gang and if I should be worried about the neighborhood. It seems ok but I am new to east county and don't know how things run down here. Any advice/input is appreciated. Thanks

I want to say Bloods or Brimms, but I don't know. Maybe Sassberto will know.
The thing with gangs in San Diego is that they don't just do their 'gang thing' in their own neighborhood but go to different parts of the city.
If graffiti has been crossed out, it's a sign there's rivalry which can turn into violence.

I don't know - could just be tagger stuff and not real gang activity. Generally it's the kids and wannabes who tag... the real gangsters tend to stay a little more low profile. Most of the "real" gangs around SD have some affiliation to the bigger brands ... so if you see things like X3 / Piru / whatever you should be concerned.
Cheap apartment buildings in East County have become a magnet for gangbangers who have been driven out of SESD by the injunctions... take a look around after 10PM and see who's hanging out, who's driving up. You'll know pretty quickly if you have trouble around.

Thanks guys. I'll just keep my eyes open. Any advice on what to say if I get called out, like "where you from?".

It probably means El Cajon Boys or something like that, I wouldn't say bloods or brims because black gangs in SD don't tag that much...but you never know

"My Momma"
Do you look the part? If you do... you might want to think about updating your wardrobe.

Gonna become? It's already there. El Cajon has completely changed over the past 20 years and not for the better.
Did you sign a lease? I'd move.

Saying that might get you shot/stabbed/beat anyway. Just say 'San Diego' and you should be alright. Sometimes they just start shooting without saying anything. You're right though, if you don't look the part, they probably won't say anything to you.
Here's a link for the original poster.
Graffiti: The Problem
I've never seen (or probably just can't remember) any graffiti with words like 'Piru', 'Crip', etc. in San Diego. Not saying it's not there though. It's mostly just letters and sometimes numbers.

naw it aint on that level yet...but no doubt its getting there fast.
@ sdpballer: I bet I know what apartments your talking about. My relative used to stay over there. Personally I never felt unsafe over there, and gangwise nobody was really claiming anything. Everyone I knew there were just regular down to earth people just getting by. But this was five years ago so for all I know things might of changed.
