Question Nuclear power plant issues

here is a link that says there was a leak at the nuclear power plant number 1 in San Onofre. Makes you wonder if these plants are a disaster waiting to happen.

Nuclear Power Plant Leaks Known Carcinogen - News Story - KGTV San Diego

I had posted earlier on the same topic but I can't seem to be able to locate it.

My question is how far is a safe living distance from a nuclear power plant?

A retired reactor at the San Onofre nuclear power plant has leaked several thousand gallons of radioactive water over an unknown period of time, but there is no threat to public safety, it was reported Wednesday.
I think the Dolly's are pretty safe.

What do you expect them to say "They are a threat to public safety".

Are you not aware of the "Big Oil", "Big Pharma", "Big Utilities", "Big whatever"!! . How do you think they make their billions?

If it were a public threat, it would have been mentioned on the news, not only locally but also nationally. hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of drivers drive by the plant every year not to mention the residents whol ive near it.

If you are worried about nuclear power plants then you shouldn't live anywhere near San Diego bay, as every aircraft carrier docked in the harbor is a floating nuclear power plant.

Me, I could care less about the nuclear issue.

Yep, Kettle is right... not to mention the Polaris missiles on the submarines. Enough nuke in there to blow us all to hell.

Is the county on a fault zone. If yes, its a disaster waiting to happen.

Just look at what happened in Japan recently?

I am thinking of moving back to CA (i am currently in MA) and I was exploring SD as one of the options. the last time I lived in CA, I used to live in SB and I absolutely adored the place. If not for the lack of job opportunities, I would move there in a heart beat.
