Entirely, sure. But its a big point. Still... not enough money in the world for me to live in San Jose... Palo Alto on the other hand....

... or Santa Clara. It's a very nice area for sure. Just not close enough to the beach for me.

I'm in the tech biz, so its a pretty impossible area for me to ignore.

This is true, though I wouldn't mind keeping it that way. For one, it's amusing seeing people take shots at SJ, even if it was incited by the troll. It's not a great place to visit but it's an awesome place to live. What SJ isn't: party central...big deal.

Really though, I think San Diego and San Jose are very similar. They have similar layouts, populations, crime rate, etc. The big difference: San Diego has tourists, San Jose has tech.

1.5 billion? Ya, the deal gets better all the time. So, someone who lives in the County will be able to vote on it? Do they too get to pay for it then?

Chargers Stadium: Mayor opposes U-T San Diego's stadium proposal - KSWB

I don't think the unions will let go of that property on the bay anyway.

expansion? Yes, stadium? Not so much.

I've always asked the same question for those who want the stadium publicly funded. If you're okay with coughing up a billion bucks to pay for the Chargers, would you be okay with them doing the same thing for Qualcomm or Websense or Sharp?

No? Well then, just because they put San Diego in front of their name doesn't mean that they should get special treatment.

And building a billion dollar facility for Qualcomm or Websense would create more jobs and they'd be higher paying ones, too.

Publicly funded stadiums are a taxpayer ripoff. It's socializing the costs and privatizing the gains. Isn't that what we got pissed off about during the financial crisis? So why do we want to do that again?
