Default Considering moving to San Diego or Orange County from NY

Looking for ideas and help. I am considering moving from Long Island to SD or Orange County. I need to get away from the constant everyday lifestyle and enjoy beaches, sailing, golf, surfing, nightlife etc. Anyone have ideas on where to live in either of these places.

If anyone has made the move i would appreciate their insight. I know absolutely nobody out there and toying with the idea of picking up and leaving or finding a job first.

27 year old, male

best!

If you come to San Diego, you may like Ocean Beach or Pacific Beach. You're close to the water, night life is good and a few golf courses about 20 mins away. Also you will be about 20 mins away from Downtown that has the Gaslamp district.

As for jobs though, I heard Orange County has more opportunities. I have a few friends that moved to Orange County because of the job offers.

Maybe come here for a vacation and get a feel for each County.

Hopes that helps. Just my .02 cents.

Much appreciated! I was in both places back in March and fell in love. That is why I cannot decide. Maybe I will try and do something in the middle.

I'm thinking of the exact same thing! Need a change from Long Island. You're at a great age to make a move. Wish I had done it back when I was in my 20's. Now I am a mom of 2 and things are more complicated. However, still doable.

Unless you are planning to join the marines, someplace in the middle probably won't work. Camp Pendleton separate the two counties.

OC is more money oriented, more "sophisticated" shall we say than San Diego, which is overall more down to earth. If you ever watched the TV Show the "OC" that is exactly the way it is, kid you not. OC is more influenced by LA culture.

you can see how on the fence i am so i appreciate all the insight.

I grew up on LI, depending on where you are from I think OC is very similar to most of Nassau County .

OC is pretty down to earth. TV lies.

You can also consider Carlsbad. It's a nice community and only about a 45 minute drive to Orange County. Then you can get the best of both Counties.
