Default If your interested in San Diego crime stats for certain zips...

Many of you are moving to SD and have expressed some concern over crime.

I wanted to turn you on to something I've been using for years that's offered by the SD Police Dept:

Essentially you can subscribe to eWatch and get daily reports sent to your email.

A report looks like this:

See also the latest crime rate publication by the City of San Diego. It gives the crime rate per 1,000 inhabitants for each neighborhood in the city and citywide by the offense type (i.e. all crimes, violent crimes, robbery, murder, etc.). This particular publication is current as of January - July 2006.

The Point Loma area, Specifically North Harbor Drive has a very high rate of auto theft, Two to three cars per night, Also around the Sportfisning docks on Scott street. Would never park a car there overnight. Police are pretty much oblivious to the problem, San Diego has a very small police force for its size, so they can't patrol every area. Pretty much one officer for the Point Loma/Ocean Beach area. The Harbor Patrol also polices the area, doesn't seem to help much.

E-Watch is excellent. I get a report every day for my neighborhood.

I wish they has this in LA. I can't even get the cops to come when someone breaks into my car.

E-watch is nice. I tried using the same service here for my town in Texas and they have a clumbsy interface that reports everything the police are doing...if they go on a barking dog call, I get a report. Too much, so I cancelled.
