Default Nannies in SD

I'm going to start night shifts soon and need a nanny overnight to be with my daughter and take her to school in the AM 2-3 days a week. My daughter is pretty much self sufficient and super low maintenance. I'm just wondering how much people pay nannies over here. It really is an easy gig. Should I be paying her hourly?? That's obviously going to cost A LOT! A flat rate? How much is fair? I've never had a nanny before, so any tips would be great!

I cannot answer your question, but if you were ok with the sitter sleeping (and you had a comfy bed or sofa for them) when your dau was asleep vs. having to stay awake all night your negotiations would go much better.

You can try one of the nanny services, but I don't know what their rates are.

Ah good point! Yes the sitter would have a comfy sleeping area (either on the pull out sofa or bed in my daughter's room, and my daughter can sleep in my bed), and her own bathroom pretty much. She wouldn't have to stay up at all, just do whatever once my daughter is asleep (well not party of course!)

If there was a nanny service that just linked you to nanny's, and you did not have to pay a rate through them (which would surely be hourly-and high since they would take their cut) that would be better. What you really want is someone w/o a criminal record and has could rapport with you and your dau. It would be nice if there was a service that background checked people and then you could interview, check references and negotiate a rate. Like you said it is a sweet gig. Any college near you? Child development/Psyc majors?
