I am planning on moving out to San Diego for a job offer. I have a dog that I am going to be bringing with me. He is an American Bulldog and he often gets grouped into the "Pit-Like" breed catigory. I remember a few years ago there was talk about a state wide ban on the breeds but I know that fell through..Just look at Joey Porter's dogs killing those mini horses. I have been told that some cities or counties in the state do have laws banning these breeds. So the question comes up, will I be able to bring him along with me for the move? I have searched around a bit and even asked a few people that I know that live in Cally but I couldn't get a definate answer to this question.

They can't group him into the "Pit" category if he isn't one. If he truly is 100% American Bulldog, you can prove that with a simple blood test. But to answer your question, a lot of the places are very ignorant around here when it comes to breeds. The place we're at has a policy on their site stating that no dogs over 40 lbs. are allowed, yet every other person here has a Lab, german shepherd, boxer, etc. I questioned management, and they said the policy is in place to deter Pitbull owners since they can't come out and restrict a particular breed. Punish the deed, not the breed. That's the only way to go.
