Where are you looking that say no pets. I live in the city, and I think everyone has at least one cat. I only have one, but have several of my neighbors that have two, and one that has three cats. Try North Park, Normal Heights, University Heights, Golden Hill and South Park. You may be able to find a one bedroom instead of a studio.

we managed to luck into a place (condo rental through real estate agency) that did not require a deposit or pet rent for our 2 cats (true disclosure-3). We were willing to pay a deposit but not an increase in monthly rent b/c that adds up big time, esp is you think you will renew. Around the time our lease was to expire, the Realtor came over-I am sure to poke around and see how things were since the home owner is on the east coast. You would not even know we had cats if not for their coming out to say HI, so I am sure she gave a good report to the owners b/c we renewed with no increase. So there are opportunities out there if you have luck and perseverance.

I think a good pet references from landlords really help. With the exception of a year or twp we had owned for the last 15 years and had no land lord references, so decided we would be willing to put a big deposit as long as most of it was refundable. "pet rent" is bull. I would not consider anyplace that has that policy nor in a million years would I give up our cats.

I've found some listings thru an agency and I will be lining up visits next week. I have a very small window...I come in tues around 10am and leave thurs around 1p (TOTALLY MEANT TO BOOK THE FLIGHT TO LEAVE FRIDAY) and it's nonrefundable...I was stressed until my little sister told me that I didn't need to stay that long, that's why I had "mistakenly" booked what I did. I have a REALLY good prospect lined up for wednesday evening, but will be looking at other options on tues of course. And yeah, I think pet rent is the dumbest thing ever! I can understand a deposit, but rent? My cats don't work and earn money! lol. I've been a home owner these past 7 years, so I have no landlord recommendations, but I'm not too worried. I'm moving down to SD with no job lined up, but I have an offer that few landlords will refuse: I'll pay a whole 6 mo lease term, plus deposit and pet deposit upfront.

rent san diego houses, townhouses, apartments, condos, duplexes, for rent in San Diego, California

it costs $88, but you're paying for up to date lists, credit check and app fee..so instead of paying the app fee over and over again, you're just paying it once and they fax your app to the landlords...saves money in the long run!
