Relocating to San Diego (apartment, safe area, place to live)

My wife and I are moving to San Diego and are wondering if the area 92107 is a good place to live. The apartment we are looking into is Mariner's Cove, but we want to be sure that it will be a good area to be in for a young family. Is that a safe area? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

It's over by the Point Loma,OB area.It is a great area but because it is near a beach community there is a chance for crime.Gangs,drugs,homeless,drunks things like that.But like I said it's a hit or miss,more of a miss than a hit.

I think there is some kind of bird reservoir over there or something and that place smells really bad. It might not be Mariners Cove exactly but it's somewhere around there.

I think the area is fairly safe, I wouldn't really call it a "good place for a young family" though. But those types of places are probably too expensive for most people. But if it fits your budget it's probably not a bad place.
