Probably sketchy, but given that it is a completely auto-dependent area, you would never venture outside the gates of the complex on foot. There's just nothing to walk to. This is the kind of place people live temporarily until they move to the place they really want to live.

Home ave down there is sketchy but not terrible. The complex is directly adjacent to the SDPD motor pool and shooting range. There is a great Mexican restaurant called Chiquitas across the street. Mostly it's just run down auto shops, light industrial and stripmalls down there. You'll use very few local services as you are immedately adjacent to multiple freeways. The neighborhood directly across Home ave (Fairmont Park) is actually nice and a good place to take a walk. A couple mile up north up Home ave where it turns into Euclid is where it becomes super sketchy.

thanks! that's a little reassuring. I don't intend to or even care about being within walking distance of things. And a local Mexican place is a bonus tho

Assuming you are at 32nd street the big military housing in Paradise Hills are much nicer and they also have an exchange right in the complex.

yup we'll be at 32nd st. But I thought Paradise Hills was a sketchy neighborhood too, from what I've read. Mostly, I've heard to stay away from being close to National City.

And honestly, a lot of it really has to do with whats immediately available within the next month and the one on Home Ave. is. And in our situation we can't afford the option of viewing before signing if we want a place to live once we get there.

If that's all there is, take it, you can always move at a later date.
