Default Got a question regarding Little Italy/Downtown

I'm doing a school project where I was assigned to do a field trip to Little Italy and write about my experience by answering questions. I've answered all but one, which I'm not sure about. Here goes:

• How is the small neighborhood park on Date Street (between State and Union) unique?

I walked the area but couldn't see anything that made it unique, am I missing something here?

Thank you

Nice. I'm looking forward to both the bocce courts and beer at Stone Brewery to open in Liberty Station next year.

Bocce is golf for drunks! Can't wait for that Stone Brewery to open.

Has Little Italy expanded since I lived in San Diego about 12 years ago? I was so disappointed at that time, it seemed like it was just a coupla blocks with 2-3 little Italian grocery stores or delis.

I'm a big fan of Italian food (literally) and I remember there were several Italian restaurants over in the Gaslamp, it seemed like more than in Little Italy.

Nice, thanks!

It was my first time there, so I wouldn't know Woof, but I liked it, really laid back and cool

Sassberto, et al,

Are you sure it was the bocce courts that made the park unique? Aren't there bocce courts in Balboa Park as well? If there is more than one, then it's not unique.

It has changed. Those coupla' block are still there, and they are surrounded by a coupla' more block in all directions. And condos/apartments all around. It looks really nice, and lots of restaurants. Unfortunately, it's also lost some of its "Little Italy" vibe (IMO). But that doesn't keep me from enjoying it when we're down there.

"At the corner of State and Date streets in Little Italy. Located within Little Italy, Amici Park features Bocci ball courts, a small amphitheater and a large green playing field. Adjacent to Washington Elementary School, the students use the park as a playground area during school hours and the community uses it at all other times." Amici Park | Little Italy Association of San Diego

I think I'd go with the "playground area during school hours" for the unique thing, although I'm pretty sure other parks also double as school playgrounds so I wouldn't even call this - strictly speaking - unique.

I have never seen Bocce ball courts. But they do have a KILLER lawn bowling league right over on the 6th Ave side.
