Why is that hitman?

I do 90% of my shopping online on amazon. Unless I know there is a store or service locally, thats where I shop.

Are the discounts really that steep?

As someone who will be working on Black Friday, please, please, please do not do this.

Go to a store where there are never any sales and ask "so what's on sale?"

You may have a smart ass salesperson say "everything. But there are no discounts."

I've worked the last 8 years on black friday.
Last year on the way home from inlaws for thanksgiving we passed by Toys r us.
We talked about all the people waiting in line, and how fun it would be as a famliy to do something like that.
So were going to try it!

I've found this not worth it. In many cases, these stores only have a few of these promotional items on hand and by the time you get to the front of the line they say they are all gone. I remember about 10 years ago my friend talked me into getting up early and going to one of these sales. I didn't want to but almost felt obligated as he wasn't from the USA and was in town for vacation.

We got in line in freezing cold temperatures (we were in New York City) and by the time we got to the front of the line (even though we were near the front of the line, they said they were all out). The whole thing seems gimmicky to me.

Like Shmoov, I end up getting most of my stuff now on Amazon.com. It's amazing how convenient it is and on many items they don't even charge for shipping. So I don't have to lug things around in my car and they deliver right to the front door.

Even for bulky things like 8 foot ladders I've ordered on Amazon and it typically arrives at my doorstep 2 days later.

I'm in the market for a new computer, but I won't be standing in any Black Friday lines.

Last year I got up early to go to Frys for a 23" Desktop Monitor at $149.99 on Black Friday. It was a big hassle with the traffic, parking, and the lines were very long. They were out of stock of course, so I left empty handed and exited as quick as the snail paced traffic would allow. The good news was that I went to Costco later that day and picked up a 24" one for the same price.

I'm avoiding the stores tomorrow, and getting some well needed rest. Nothing I really need right now anyway.
