Default looking to buy inexpensive condo in san diego county

Im looking to buy a condo mabey at around the 120,000 - 140,000 range in the suburbs around san diego or in san diego county. This would be more like a vacation spot for me and the mrs. We dont have kids and are not planning on it for quite a while. I dont need an assigned parking space because i wont leave a car there, dont need a pool, dont need a workout room. Im just looking for an escape place that is quiet, far away from the noise of the city, preferably far as hell away from any crime or gang issues, and mabey has a nice view of the mts or hills. Distance from the san diego (the city) does not matter. Can anyone recommend a spot. By the way Im from Chicago and i wont be around no more than 6 times a year.

Get in a time machine, and travel back to the year 1992.

actually there are plenty of condos for pretty low prices now-I am sure you could find a 1BR in that range. I like the SDlook up site for exploring. Keep in mind it gets hotter inland. As far as "getting away from crime and gang issues"....not too hard to do. Probably south and east of the city might not be to you liking

If you want to get away from the noise of the city, you probably want to go as far as Ramona, Valley Center, Santa Ysabel/Julian, Alpine. And yes, they will be hotter because they're inland.

Is there anywhere in La Mesa/Spring Valley that might work? I'm not so familiar with that area. Maybe someone else can offer an opinion about that.

Maybe, just maybe, there'd be something nice in Bernardo Heights. That's not so far out, but it's has less city noise. And I don't know that it would fit into your price range.

Try Ramona. Surrounded by the Cleveland Natl Forest to the east and has a small downtown to grab a bite and have groceries.
