Let's decimate all the mediocre to good talent like Mat Latos and Mike Adams. Headley and Hundley are next I guess. Don't mind Harang and Bell gone. What's the strategy?

Over all that really wasn't a bad trade.
We pulled one over on the reds imo!

I think the Pads won on this trade. Not by much though.

What is Volquez worth these days? One decent year three years ago.

Additionally, they got three legitimate prospects. I think all three will contribute at the major league level.

I think the Padres had to make this trade.

I think the Padres will get the better end of the deal unless Latos turns out to be a Verlander type pitcher. He certainly has the talent to do it, but there are no guarantees.

Short of that, the talent the Padres picked up is well worth it.

People are saying this is like the Herschel Walker steal the Cowboys pulled off on the Vikings.

San Diego Padres trade Mat Latos to Cincinnati Reds for Edinson Volquez, Yonder Alonso, two prospects - ESPN

Now add in the possibility of a Garza for Rizzo trade. Wow.
