I am coming back to San Diego, Hillcrest, starting in January for a few months to escape the NYC winter. Has anyone used Car2Go? It looks really cool but I am a little worried about charging the vehicles. Any feedback appreciated.

I have seen them parked on the streets, and I have seen other people using them, but I haven't actually used them myself. What about charging the vehicles bothers you? As far as I can tell from the website, keeping the vehicles charged is the responsibility of the company, not you. Just park it in a legal spot when you are done. If the charge is low, I suspect someone from the company is responsible for changing it out for a fully charged vehicle.

Interesting. It does look like you can park them anywhere on the street and don't have to worry about finding a charging station. I'm going to give them a try.

sfosyd- no way, you are from Glostahh! Are you fb friends with Greasypole Nation? haha

My partner is from Gloucester and we go back every year to visit family and take in the "Fiesta/Fiasco"- love that blue collar town! Fried clams at the Clam Box in nearby Ipswich, yum!

Enjoy some San Diego sunshine.

I love Glosta such a cool little town!! It is so relaxing to head up there from the chaos of NYC. You gotta try Causeway seafood too. And SUPing with Cape Ann SUP, doesn't get much bettah. One of the most beautiful places in the world.

I've seen them parked all over San Diego, but if I had to rent a car, I wouldn't rent one. They're too tiny, and wouldn't even hold my groceries. I can rent a compact car for less than $40 per day, and car2go is $65.99 per day, which I consider very expensive.

As far as I understand it, the cars cost 35 cents a minute and you don't pay when the car is parked. For example, I could take a 7 minute drive to Trader Joe's for $2.45, shop as long as I want, and then drive back for another $2.45. Also, because they are electric, there would be no gas charges. Also, they would be very useful if one is headed downtown because there are no parking charges. For day trips, at $65.99 they would not make sense.

Correct me if I am wrong?
