I wouldn't say they gave away Brees. They offered him a contract with limited guaranteed money, which is the logical thing to do after someone has major surgery on his throwing shoulder. New Orleans was desperate, and they offered him more.

Sproles didn't produce last year to justify the franchise tag once again. LT was on the downside, and everyone knew it. He'll probably retire this year.

The hardest thing to do in a personnel role for a professional sports team has got to be deciding who to keep and who to let go. I'm sure you start to really like some of the guys you have brought in, and if they need to be moved because of the salary cap, it's got to be tough.

Even more tough when they end up in a bunch of Super Bowls.

yeah, and let's not forget our great draft picks...Larry English, Ryan (gets hurt every other game) Matthews, etc. IMO, we haven't had any outstanding draft picks in a long time...so much for AJ's brilliance. All the teams play with the same salary cap restrictions but they seem to come up with some really great players.

And they better start looking at who will replace Rivers if he ever gets injured...because Billy V. isn't going to take us anywhere.

I'm very happy for Drew Brees and Sprouls...hope they make it to the Super Bowl !
