Found a cheap hotel - Harborview Inn Suites - in Little Italy. Safe? Stuff to walk around to?

Thanks!

There's also a relatively cheap one - Catamaran - on Mission Blvd. in Pacific Beach. Thoughts on that?

Yes and yes. Little Italy is a safe area and there are plenty of things to walk to. Plus you can hop on the trolley.

You'll hear landing planes in Little Italy. Won't be an issue unless planes reverse take-off direction, which is rare. Blasting jet take-off noise doesn't get much past the admin building.

The Catamaran would be better for water activities, but plenty in Mission Beach to walk to, especially bars.

What's the overall consensus?

Little Italy for $55/per night or Pacific Beach for $99/per night? I'll leave my trip up to you fine people!

If you can get the Catamaran for $99/nite, I'd go with the Catamaran. Lots more to do in Pacific Beach and Mission Beach. You can chose between the bars or the beach. The Catamaran is on Mission Bay with the Pacific Ocean only about a block away.

I'd take the $55 for Little Italy. You can rent a bike and ride it to PB. Or take a cab. And that $44 a night plus tax you save would allow you to spend more on some good food, or admission to attractions, or whatever.

Both are good deals in good neighborhoods. Little Italy is urban, and PB is beachy. Depends on the exxperience you're looking for.
