I have a new job opportunity. I would like to live near the water, meet someone my age who likes to sail and be happy after bad divorce. I will work from home and call on co's in San Diego. Can afford $2,000 and maybe a bit more. Truly appreciate your advice. Moving from CT, a bit scared!

Sunset Cliffs / south Ocean Beach is a great area to get started in San Diego. You'll find lots of people in your age group. It's a very second-lfe-friendly area.

Living close to the water ain't cheap in San Diego. Here's something small in your price range (larger rentals in Sunset Cliffs go for a lot more $$):
Very Clean 2 br Beach Duplex (http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/apa/2785757617.html - broken link)

Default Near the water - so that my community is boating, walking, perhaps a local spot to have a happy hour

Thank you for the responses thus far. Love the duplex! A complex with a pool, gym would be nice to, guess I want it all, huh? I've been thru a lot and am moving because the job is a good one, tough to get jobs in CT.

I second Sunset Cliffs and OB and add over the hill in Pt loma, south of Chatsworth preferably.
Sailing scene is centered around Shelter Island. Main hang out is Fiddlers Green.
If you have any questions regarding the sailing community pm me.
