I am thinking about relocating to San Diego, or at least living there part-time. I would like to find a great neighborhood with restaurants, a hardware store, a public library branch, and a supermarket (there is only one Grocery Outlet in SD—in National City—what is that area like?)? I tried using Walk Score, but it does not seem accurate. I would work downtown or at home (I am bringing my job with me), so I would like someplace from which downtown in easily accessible. I do not want to live in a very suburban area laced with chain stores. I think I’m too low-key for La Jolla and north. I have read the other posts and responses to people looking for a similar neighborhood, but I am not necessarily interested in (loud) nightlife. I have been looking at houses online, and can find very few with three or more bedrooms and at least 1800 square feet. There are hundreds of houses for sale that are less than 1200 sf or more than $13 million. I’m looking for something in between. I understand why there are so many $13 million houses, but why are the other houses so small?

Is there really a San Diego Day? If so, when is it? If not, you residents should write your city council members to get it declared. NTSF:SD:SUV

Any residents’ tips on getting Comicon tickets? I have been trying for a couple years and miss that one-hour window of opportunity. Just want to go once….
Thanks

You can have all that if you live downtown. There's are two grocery stores - Ralph's and Albertson's, an Ace Hardware, lots of restaurants and a library. But I don't think you'll find a three bedroom house downtown, though.

As for ComicCon tickets, they just went on sale, and are probably sold out already.

If you want to live downtown, you can find a three bedroom place starting at around $300K. There are a few places that have over 1,800 square feet.

It's going to be real hard
Getting tickets last year was a joke and i suspect it's going to be the same this year.

Open online registration will be the only time you can purchase a badge for Comic-Con, and it usually sells out quickly. Please check the Comic-Con website at Welcome to Comic-Con International :: Up Next...APE 2011 - October 1-2 frequently for updates

Thanks, I already got a member ID. How did you get tickets last year? It does seem like they are trying to make it easier and more automated. Selling the 4-day tickets for the next year's show during the event seems unfair, because then only people who were there the previous year get tickets. But it looks like they won't do that again this year.
