Haven't seen them for about a month now, though - maybe they migrate down south to Lemon Grove?

I like parrots....sauteed with garlic butter and served over rice, although they don't taste as fruity as they look. (joking)

from wikipedia:
Quote:
There are multiple colonies of Cherry-headed Conures in the San Gabriel Valley (the suburbs northeast of Los Angeles). Subtropical U.S. cities like L.A. are great environments for tropical birds because of all the tropical plants that are cultivated as ornamentals, providing them with their natural food supply. Flocks of fifty or more descend on fruit trees during their bearing season, staying for a few days and making a deafening racket. During mating season they build nests in the palm trees that line many streets in the region. It is widely speculated that the reason there are so many feral conures is that they make too much noise for many pet owners, who "accidentally" leave their flight feathers untrimmed.
Makes sense.

The Lemon Grove/Mt. Helix green parrot flock is back! Saw them hanging out on the power lines in front of our house yesterday. According to our neighbor, who has lived here since the 60's, they come back this time each year - just in time to get their share of her pecan crop!

I hadn't seen many parrots in the last month or so, but they were everywhere yesterday. I even got some cool pictures. I wonder where the heck they were for the last month?
