I moved to San Diego from AZ because my husband was transferred here. That was in 1976. I have NEVER wanted to go back to AZ. Never liked AZ. Jobs were a non-issue as work brought us here.

Hubby and I moved to San Diego in 2009 from Seattle. Hubby is originally from Hawaii and I'm from the Philippines (although I came to Seattle via Vancouver, Canada where I lived for 2 years).

Basically our moved was spurned on by the decision of wanting to buy a house to raise our family. That got us thinking whether Seattle is the place we want to be in long term and we both decided it's not. We researched on places and both thought that San Diego might be the place for us. We had considerable savings at that time (from wanting to buy a house) so we just decided to take the plunge and moved without a job. Summer 2009 was the worst time for the job market. It took my husband a long time to get one that paid decent enough.

Even if we almost depleted our savings... and the fact that he's paid considerably less here than his old job in Seattle, we love being here and we haven't regretted our decision to take the risk.
