It's been awhile since I had any direct knowledge of the Fiesta Apartments. This is what I recall:

Laundry on site - though you'll have to stick around and watch your laundry, and save all your quarters

Decent pool and landscaping.

On site management that actually manages the complex.

No A/C unless they've added it. This means that during the summer you'll have to keep your sliding door open and fans blowing, and your neighbors will too. With windows open, everyone will hear everything as the buildings are close together. But that's apartment life and specifically apartment life before A/C became standard.

Assigned, enclosed safe parking.

It's a generally safe area, and you will be safe walking around the area, but the layout is auto-centric so you probably won't.

Genessee Avenue is close by as is the big shopping area at Genessee and Balboa Avenue. So in that sense you will be living near a strip mall. However, you will be protected from the worst of the Balboa and Genessee traffic noise.

It's a perfectly reasonable place to rent an apartment unless it's changed dramatically.

Balboa Plaza at Beadnell - Not familiar with it. The one warning I would give is that some of the apartments may have a Beadnell address but back onto Balboa Avenue. Watch your location within the building because of the noise from the Avenue.

Mesa Village at 5265 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. I have no direct knowledge of this complex, but I don't like the location. It's right on CMB. There will be lots of traffic noise, and that end of CMB will be far more strip mallish than Fiesta.

Hi I live in Pacific Bay Club.. I haven't been here long but of the 3 apartments I've had in SD so far, the walls and floors here have to be the thinnest, like several sheets of paper stacked on each other. The maintenance is also extremely slow and you're better off fixing things yourself. On the bright side, it's one of the cheapest places in the area, it takes me 15 minutes total to UCSD, and has good access to freeways and shopping while still being in a residential area. I wrote a lengthy review on apartmentratings.com if you want to read it, and unlike many other reviews there, tried to be as informative and objective as possible. Bottom line if you moved here I would make sure that everything is fixed when you move in and absolutely get a top floor unit.
