I had the same issue with an appartment I just rented back east. I increased the security deposit to cover an additional months rent. Ask them about it when you apply, be up front with them prior to them doing a credit check, this may also help you. This way they are covered if I defaulted, not that I ever have, but it will assist with giving them peace of mind. Also they are tightening up on renting the same as lenders have tightened up on mortgages.

thanks all for the suggestions...hopefully having a nice reference letter and month's rent as my deposit will boost my chances a bit..me go pray now lol..
