Default Desperate For Advice: Air Quality Concerns In San Diego

I have just had an offer from a big company in San Diego (North County). I went there for the interview few days ago. When I went there to SD, I noticed that there was alot of dust/smog and when I went for a long walk outside, I had difficulty breathing! I read that SD had the 4th most polluted air in the USA with AQI close to 300 (Very Unhealthy). I also noticed that most male residents were either pale or seem to be bald(ing).
Is it common for new commers to have issues breathing? How good/bad is the air SAN Diego? How do people manage to walk outside? Is balding related to pollution? What about the cloud of dust I see every where in SD including over the ocean? If I have to move to SD, what would be the place/places with healthiest air?

Thanks alot.

Some of that dust is pollution coming down from LA. or San Diego's own air pollution. The other part of it is probably dust blowing in from the desert to the east. And the smallest component is dust and pollution blowing over from China and the Mongolian Desert.

There is no known correlation to between balding and air pollution. However, men who in their youths were blond are more likely to end up bald/balding later on.
