Information gathering: What are some reputable, recommended national moving companies for an out-of-state move, besides North American, Atlas?

Thinking about getting out of Dodge bloom?

Bekins, Allied and Mayflower come to mind.

We've made numerous moves ( something like 14) criss-crossing the States with transfers with my husbands Company. Your move is only as good as the crew. Several times we were assigned the same moving company and one move was excellent, while the other was the move from hell. Hate to say it, but it is sort of a crap shoot. We just made the move from Houston to SD one month ago and used Allied....We did all the packing and it was a great and actually pleasant exp. The crew on both ends were very good, courteous and professional.

Where are you moving to? I worked with an Allied affiliate, Bayshore, and they did a great job.

That is right. We just moved from Missouri to Carlsbad last wk. We used United. I did so much research on this and selected United. The crew in MO was not doing their job and they put my stuff in a small van and then put it in another United van. In that process they lost the hardware screws and not able to reassemble my platform bed last wk when my things arrived in Carlsbad. So here I am calling to the company every day trying to figure out what to do with the situation. Even though United contacted local services to provide the hardware to assemble the bed they couldn't do anything because the furniture was made in Italy and they dont have that particular type of screws. So the moving experience depends on the crew not the company.
