I would love to hear from someone who has gone to Coronado High School or who has a child there to understand the pros/cons. I believe it is a blue ribbon school and has a great school rating of 9 (out of 10) but there were some comments about drugs, elitism, etc. that are troubling. I know many communities struggle with these issues. I'd like to get a sense of how pervasive these problems are at CHS. Also, approximately how many students in each class? How competitive are their sports teams?

Also, we can afford a home in the $1M to $1.5M range. In most of America this would get us something very comfortable. I'm concerned about what that will get us in Coronado. We need 4 bedrooms.

What is the rental market like?

I appreciate your honest feedback.

Dont know much about the schools, but houses in the 1-1.5 range wont necessarily get you ocean views with that many bedrooms, but it is possible to get a house there in that range.
Also keep in mind that houses tend to be somewhat close to one another in many parts of the city. This may/may not be a major factor for you.

Here is an example of a traditional sale right now in that range.
438 B Ave, Coronado, CA 92118 | MLS# 120024183

Can't say specifically but it is a typical large suburban high performing school, plenty of temptation, plenty of very driven kids too. It's all what you the kiddo make of it. CA is fairly permissive about soft drug use, sex, etc, so the kids do reflect that, ideally discreetly, but rarely so.
