I have been considering moving to SD with my future wife and our 11 month daughter. It probably won't be until 9-12 months from now and I'm looking for some information on where a good family friendly area would be to move into. I am an Automotive Technician of 15 years with some teaching experience. I was also wondering how the job market is in my field? (if anyone knows) Thanks.

Where would we find a good place to raise our daughter in the SD area? Please give us your opinions thanks.

You should check out the job market here first, before you make a move. Just because you're an automotive technician with 15 years experience, and can teach, doesn't mean that you'll be able to get a job.

An area in which to raise your daughter would depend on your income.

As far as good areas to raise kids, I live in 4S Ranch (south western part of Rancho Bernardo). New schools here. Very family oriented. Very safe, nice. Houses are very expensive here though ($400K minimum but condos are less and you could always rent something for under $2K/mo). And I don't even have kids but there are plenty of familiers here. Scripps Ranch is nice. Carmel Valley. All these places are a little inland but only about 15-20 min from the coast.

That is my plan. I just am not familiar with the area so I'm not sure where to start looking for work. By knowing what areas are best situated for us then I know where to start looking into the job market. Thanks.

Find a job first, then look for a place to live. San Diego is very large and spread out, and you might want to live near your job.

I second what 'moved" says. San Diego is extremely spread out and traffic can be a nightmare. Finding a job and THEN an area to live in makes the most sense. The further out of the City, the more house you can get for your money, but the commutes stink.
Maybe start looking into the larger car dealerships. Although, I believe most only hire out of the STEP programs. But you never know. Your exp. may speak for itself. Good luck in your search!
We just made the move here from outside of Houston and absolutely love all that SD has to offer!
