Default Affordable but Upscale Apartments?

Hello Everyone!

I hope I'm not reiteriating a question that's already been asked. I am somewhat familiar with San Diego and am looking to move August 15th. I have found a few places of interest, but I just wanted to double check to make sure I'm not missing any hidden gems. I'm interested in finding a studio or 1 bedroom apartment in the following areas (although I can be a bit flexible):

Downtown
Mission Valley
Encinitas
Del Mar
Carmel Valley
Mission Bay
Kearny Mesa

*Not interested in anything south of college area(past SDSU), nothing north of Poway (unless Carlsbad), nothing in East County (unless Kearny Mesa area-if that applies?).

My max budget was ideally 1200 but I understand these areas tend to be a bit more expensive so I could maybe "cap out" at 1400. It does have to be cat friendly as I have adopted a stray kitty. I'm especially looking for the area to have young professionals, preferably no children or families. I'm a single, young professional myself.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks so much in advance!

Most people prefer to live close to their work location. In what part of San Diego is your job?

I think some of the "corporate" apartment complexes would fit your criteria. Try looking at Archstone & Camden properties.

I don't think you're going to be able to find a place to live without children or families. It would be discrimination for a landlord not to rent to a qualified family or a single parent with a child.

I was just going to post the same thing...all apt complexes will have children/families, some more than others. However, I would say that UTC area, downtown and Mission Valley probably have more singles than families with children living in apartments. $1400 will get you a one bedroom in the more upscale complexes. Alot depends on where you will be working...and I hope you can be more than a bit flexible.

Hello! Thanks so much for responding to my post. My job is actually virtual, so I'm free to move to any location

I did try those and have them on my list. I'm not crazy about them but I am looking at them.

The reason I was stating that is I really need a quiet environment since I am applying to grad school. I tend to find places that have a lot of children to be extremely noisy especially on weekends and in the morning. I wasn't expecting to have an apartment complex completely void of families, but did want one more centered towards young professionals

Yes, I was aware of those areas already. I guess I didn't phrase my question correctly. I'm looking for specific apartment recommendations.

BTW, thanks to all that took the time to respond to my post- I really appreciate it!
