Call me crazy, but after a week of overnight lows in the 30's at my house (34 last night), I can honestly say that I'd much rather have the 100 degree days we had last summer over this.

Hmmm.. I'm not sure which I'd prefer. But no doubt I wouldn't have been able to make it through either of them without strong AC in the summer during that hot-spell and central heat going around both levels of the house here during the past few weeks. Plus we've burned through almost all our firewood.

So far we've been getting plenty of use for both our AC and heat this year.

It's supposed to warm up into the low 70s for a few days.

Honestly, I prefer the colder weather. I used to love 80-degree days when I was a teenager, but now highs in the 50s are my favorite. My apartment is regularly 20 degrees or so hotter than outside temps even without heating and with windows open, which means back into the 90s for me if it's in the 70s outside. I'm not looking forward to this week.

This has got to be the year that I get a portable air conditioner. I've had it with heat illness and dehydration.

I'm happier with heat than with cold. I even tolerated several years living in Pomona, where it isn't summer if it isn't in the 100's. I'm surprised, though, that I still have enough of Chicago in me to be mildly amused at all the local angst about temps in the 20's and 30's (except for agriculture - for them it really is a huge problem!)

27 on our porch near the creek in Sabre Springs...feels fresh and clean. Had to break out my triple layer fleece from Alaska. Nice.

I've had multiple vehicles with outside sensors and driving from Mission Valley I could go up or down something like 7 degrees. The coldest being the bottom of the canyons like over by Tecolote golf course. Anyway, it's possible. At the office I always have to split the difference between the down town one and Kearny Mesa or Mira Mesa sites.

Up in the foothills of the Sierras this past week it's been down to the low 20's during the night and not much higher than 40 during the day.

I posted on facebook "55 degrees, feels like 85 because it's been 25 for way too long"

Jealousy reigns!
