I completely agree with this. I've always had difficulty comparing SF to anywhere in SD and have felt the East Bay overall being a much better comparison.

I agree with this ^^

This has been an incredibly informative thread and thanks to all the contributions.

As a visitor of SF and having family in San Leandro, SF's proper's vibe is totally unique and there is nowhere in SD that compares to it by a long shot. East Bay comparisons, definitely as mentioned by the others.
